Start off on the right paw with your new puppy because first learning is the strongest.

People think that puppies are easy and many new businesses that offer training get their new and inexperienced staff to do the puppy training. Here at Waggawuffins, we understand the importance of getting it right from the start and we are also aware how easy it can be to screw up a puppy if you don't know what you're doing, especially with those puppies who didn't read the puppy training books so we have Jane do all the puppy stuff!

Friday 20th September 2024 6pm - 9pm at Waggawuffins Canine College.
This is a three-hour presentation which will cover:
Understanding Puppy Socialisation and Habituation to help develop a socially competent puppy.
Understandings emotions and Behaviour.
Obedience or play, how you should be training your puppy.
How to prevent problems.
Understanding Puppy Behaviour and Development Stages.
How to handle fear, build confidence and develop resilience.
Understanding breed-specific behaviours and the development of behaviour problems.

There will be Theory, Practical Demonstrations and a Q & A

This talk will be helpful for people planning on getting a puppy, new puppy owners, people with older puppies who are struggling and pet professionals looking for a better understanding of working with puppies.

I had the pleasure of attending the WaggaWuffins puppy training and socialisation talk last Friday, and found it incredibly informative. Jane shared lots of up-to-date information on the different stages of a puppy’s development, along with what to be mindful of at each phase. The positive reinforcement training techniques she introduced were fantastic, and she even gave us a live demonstration with one of her own pups.

It was great to finally meet Jane—she’s one of the top gundog trainers in the UK, and one of the few using purely positive reinforcement methods. You could see her expertise shine through during the talk. It was engaging, fun, and packed with valuable information. Plus, she left plenty of time for questions at the end, which was really helpful. Highly recommend for anyone looking to better understand and train their pup!

Training that works!

Our training methods are positive reinforcement based and emotion centred. This means we avoid the use of traditional correction and punishment based methods. We prefer to take the favourite teacher approach to helping our dogs learn, understanding the dog’s basic needs for safety, support, empathetic guidance, and trust in the dog/human relationship.

We use up to date science and research using not only an understanding of basic operant and classical learning theory, but also the understanding of neuroscience, emotions, mental wellbeing, ethology, and behaviour.

Learning for dogs and people should be both challenging and fun. We teach people how to be less reactive and more proactive in their handling.
