Our puppy school has been running in Bury for 6 years now, it is presented in a friendly and professional manner, is very popular and spaces are limited.
Our puppy course is structured over a rolling 6 weeks where you learn something new each week. It is specifically designed for all breeds in their socialisation development stage.
Spaces are limited.
The classes are designed and run by our Pet Behaviour Advisor who has over 15 years practical experience and 5 years formal study specifically in the field of Canine Behaviour and Training with the support from experienced instructors
This is not your typical dog obedience training class. This is a 6 week course for puppies who must be under 19 weeks old at the beginning of the session. When we get puppies, due to health reasons we have to protect them and they are kept away from other dogs for what is nearly 1/3 of their life at that point. Coming out into the world at 12/14 weeks can be very scary. However we have a short, very important window of opportunity to expose our puppies to as much as possible before their socialisation window closes.

The aims of the puppy class it to teach manners, basic training, bite inhibition and socialisation with people, children and other dogs. We also include an overview of clicker training, handling for examination (which will make visits to the vet less stressful for all) and grooming. The training exercises covered are getting your puppy to listen to you while there are distractions, walk nicely on a loose lead, not to jump up, come back when called, leave, sit, stand, down, stays and roll over (just for fun). We also have a puppy obstacle course with hoops, cones, poles and tunnel to help with confidence building. We use music and games to make training fun.
The classes include socialisation exercises such as 'permission to play' where they get to play with other puppies and we make sure they are learning the right social skills. We teach you how to read canine body language and know what is appropriate behaviour and what is not. We have the trainers adult well tempered dog attend at some point during the course as part of the socialisation.
All training methods are kind and reward based.

We encourage all the family (including children) to attend the classes and get involved, refreshments are provided free of charge, the training environment is fun, friendly and relaxed.
The classes are a rolling 6 weeks so you can begin as soon as your vet says its safe for your puppy to go out (usually 2 weeks after last vaccination) this also means you will not be training with the same puppies for 6 weeks and your puppy will get the opportunity to meets lots of different puppies and people in a changing environment. The socialisation window is very small and it important to me that puppies get out and about and exposed to as much as possible as soon as they can, this means you do not have to wait until a course start date and miss out on important socialisation.
We also offer puppy one 2 ones where our pet behaviour advisor can visit you and your puppy at home before vaccinations are complete and get you started off on the right foot.
